2018 Sportscraft SF550 II

This custom 5.50 metre craft is enormously popular with recreational anglers looking for a capable offshore boat that doesn’t cost the Earth.
There’s ample room in the Sportscraft’s rope locker for a mid-sized electric winch if so desired, and the walk-through dash/windscreen concept very handy in all fishing situations. With the foredeck hatch closed, the SF550’s cuddy cab is very spacious – certainly spacious enough to store all manner of bulky items such as wet weather clothing, sleeping bags, dive gear or tackle boxes.

There’s plenty of work space in the 550’s cockpit, which will fish three or even four quite comfortably. Side storage shelves feature upholstered outer panels, and there are a couple of smaller side compartments up forward adjacent to the helm and passenger’s seat. A lockable glove box (with drink holders) is located on the port side of the split dash, along with a well-positioned security rail.
The Sportscraft’s transom set-up is excellent, with dual self-draining lockers either side of the motor well and an elevated shelf beneath the transom coaming for batteries and, if required, an oil reservoir (with remote filler). The motor well isn’t at all obtrusive, allowing easy access over the back for fishing.
Sportscraft rates the SF550 hull to carry engines of between 90-150hp. We have fitted a Yamaha 115 which seems to balance the hull nicely.
